on the plus side, the cars have been rebalanced and are now very much in the same condition as they were back in 2000. apart from the now massively upscaled graphics, the cars are much the same, and even the driving physics have been tweaked to be much closer to real life, although not so much that they feel like they've been turned into a f1 game. the revamped ai is a much more realistic challenge, with better damage control and more intelligent tactics. the only real negative is that the ai isn't as forgiving as it once was, making the game even more of a challenge than it already was. however, it's great to see that colin mcrae is still considered to be one of the best rally drivers in the world, and is still involved in the sport to this day.

if you've been waiting for a pc-based rally game for a long time, then you're in for a real treat. as much as you can enjoy driving through the scenery, it's also very good fun to have a go at driving the cars. however, the game is not without its faults. one of the issues is that there are very few options available to the players. for example, there are only three different rallies, though it's great that players are encouraged to race in more than one event per stage. the tracks are also a little too short to be able to do much more than chase down the leader, although it's a shame that monte carlo has been omitted from the game. the most irritating thing is that the game doesn't have any single-player mode, and the fact that it's part of an ea sports package makes it even more disappointing. it's a pity that there is no option for the original pc game, but it still looks fantastic.
